I may be new to the field of mental performance, but I am eager to help performers who are in need. Reflecting on my past, my mental game was not strong. I would have really appreciated developing my own mental edge, and I have learned that it is something that can be developed, just like any physical skill. I recently just graduated with a master`s degree in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where I had several experiences with performers of all kinds. I worked with youth athletes, High School athletes, ROTC cadets, theater actor, UTK student-athletes and even lucky enough to work with a gold medal Olympian. I am also currently interning with the Chicago Fire Youth academy athletes (U13-17) using mental skills training to develop leadership and preparing them for a future in soccer. I will be earning my CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant) through AASP (Applied Association of Sport Psychology) as soon as possible. Performance is performance whether you are an athlete, actor, public speaker etc. My goal (and area of training) is to help you recognize disruptors of optimal performance and work on reinterpreting or countering these disruptors. I help empower performers with anxiety/stress management, confidence building, increasing self-awareness, and performance enhancement techniques.
My consulting style:
Differently than many other professionals on this platform, I am not clinically trained. This means if I begin to see signs of clinical issues i.e. depression, clinical anxiety, etc. I will have to refer out to another professional, this is out of my level of training and I do this for your own safety. I am trained mostly to use cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance commitment therapy. Personally, I like to learn as much as possible about the performer’s history before I jump to conclusions. In fact, normally my first session is simply background information to get a better understanding of who the performer is as a whole. If you are looking for a quick fix, I can do my best to help, but know that the more information I have, the more perspective I have to your specific situation. Your confidentiality is incredibly important to me, I am only obligated to break confidentiality if I find you are a danger to yourself or others.
